Whitehorse – A Liberal government will help Yukoners by reopening the Canada Revenue Agency Office (CRA) in Whitehorse, announced Larry Bagnell, Yukon’s Liberal Party candidate.
“The current government has made cuts to Yukon which has led to the closure of the CRA office. This has hurt individuals, and in particular, small businesses,” said Bagnell. “I have brought these concerns to Justin Trudeau and have ensured we are able to return the necessary services to Yukon. That is why I am happy to announce today that the Yukon CRA office will be re-opened under a Liberal government.”
When the office was closed in fall of 2012, the business community and the general public were vocal about the loss and a petition was circulated which garnered signatures from hundreds of Yukoners.
“Yukoners from all walks of life agreed this is an important service and they want revenue information, forms, and support available locally,” said Bagnell.
The closure of the office also disproportionately impacted seniors who would go there to file their taxes.
Bringing back the CRA office means bringing back the government services that help individuals who need assistance and help businesses to thrive throughout Yukon. A basic tenet of the Liberal platform is to improve service delivery to Canadians and this is one more example of how a Liberal government would provide it.
